    First Crusade

    The first Crusade operated from 1096 to 1099. When the Pope called for a crusade to free the Holy Land Jerusalem from the Muslims, which they succesfuly captured. The religuious cause was often forgotten much nobles were more interested in winning land and treasure, and the King and Pope more interested in winning power and money.

    Second Crusade
    In 1144 the Muslims captured Edessa one of the principal Christian outpost in the east. In 1146 the city Edessa, the bulwark of the latin kingdom of jerusalem wastaken by the Turks. Louis the french and Conard the German made a joint attack on Damacus, but had to raise the siege after a few days. This closed the Crusade . A chronicler of the expedition remarked having pratically accomplished nothing the inglorious ones returned home.

    The Egyptian-Syrian leader Saladin united the Muslims of the Middle East in 1183. He began to conquer the crussaders and Hewan Jerusalem in 1187. They had advantage of the war than the Christians of Jerusalem, because they had powerfull cannons. They capured the city of Jerusalem on October 2, 1187.

    Massacre at Acre
    The Massacre at Acre took place in 1291 and resulted in loss of the crusader-controlled city of Acre to the Muslims. It is considered as one of the most important battles of the time period. The capture of the city marked the end of further crusaders to the Levan. When Acre fell, the crusaders lost their last major stronghold of the crusaders Kingdom of Jerusalem.

    It was Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II against the defending army commanded by the Byzantine emperor Constantine XI Palaiogos.
    Ottoman forces surronded Constantinople walls, brought cannons. The army of Constantinople was relatively small. The capture of Constantinople marked the end of the Roman Empire, a State which had long lasted for nearly 1500 years. After the conquest, Mehmed made Constantinople the Ottoman Empire's new capital, and Hagia Sophia turned into an Islamic house of workship.

    On the day that Israel declared its independence, the Arab league secretary General Azzam Pasha declared jihad, a holy war on Israel. He said ''This will be a war of extermination and a momentous massacre which will be like the Mongolia massacres and crusades. The Mufti of jerusalem, Haj Amin Al Husseini stated, " I declare a holy war, my Moslem brothers!!!". It refers to a political tentions between the Arab peoples and Jewish community of the Middle East. The conflict expanded to all Arabs.

    1st Gulf War
    The Gulf War was a war waged by a UN authorized coalition force from 34 nations led by the US against Iraq in response to Iraq's invasion of Kuwait. PGeorge H.W. Bush deployed American forces into Saudi Arabia and asked other countries to send their own forces to the scene. The grear majority of the military forces in coalition were from the US, Saudi Arabia, UK and Egyptconstibutions in that order. Around US $36 billion of the US $60 billion was paid by Saudi Arabia.

    On that Tuesday morning 19 terrorists from the Islamist militant group Al-Quaeda hijagercked four passenger jets. The hijackers intentionally piloted two of those planes , American Airlines flight 11 and United Airlines flight 175 into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center complex in New York City. The hijackers also crashed American Airlines Flight 77 into the Pentagon, and intended to pilot the fourth jet, United Airlines Flight 93 into a target in Washington D.C. .

    It all began when the US and UK governments claimed that Iraq is in possession of Weapon of Mass Destruction (WMD) and posed a thret to their security. The UN has verified the possession of WMD and cruise missiles, no evidence was ever found. The US invasion fallowed the investigation. Some US officials accused the Iraqi Pressident Saddam ussein of supporting al-qaeda ad no evidence was found. Other proclaimed reasons for invasion to be Iraq's government human right abuses, and effort to spread.
