    James I Reign

    James I Stuart King of England, Son of Mary Stuart, he was educated in England under the Anglican Church.
    Neverthless He believed that the king was an absolute power and all the early Stuart KINGS based his rule on the theory of Divine Right of Kings.This meant that the king as a monarch was representative of God on earth.
  • JAMES I

    He unified the kingdoms of England, Wales and Scotland but he kept two separate Parliaments.
    He introduced a common coinage and a flag called union Jack
    In 1611 he ordered a new translation of the Bible which is considered a masterpiece of English Literature,
    The king settled in London, at Hampton Court Royal Palace , along the banks of river Thames. The same residence of Quenn Elizabeth:

    Charles I Reign

  • Short Parliament

    After 11 years of rule without the parliament ,Charles I the SHORT summoned the parliament in 1640 I because he had to find money for the army to fight a rebellion in Scotland . The parliament denied the permission and Charled I dismissed the Parliament.
  • SHORT PARLIAMENT

    This Parliament which was made to reduce the power of the king, strongly oppesed to king's rule.
  • RUMP PARLIAMENT

    The Rump Parliament 1649 - 1653 ) was dismissed by Cromwell in 1653 , when he started the 'Protectorate'.Cromwell became the Lord Protector. He divided the country into 11 countries. Cromwell died in 1558 . His son Richard tried to rule the country after him but his power was very week. So the members of the Parliament summoned the Royal family to come back
  • THE NAVIGATION ACT

    This act, by Cromwell , stated the monopoly of trade of English Ships.
