Bread Shortage of April 1775
In 1775 there was a great shortage of bread amongst the people of France which lead to violent protests and crimes. The rate of crime was rising and the people were starting to fight against the nobility and stealing. It is what started the blood lust of the French Revolution. All of this could have been avoided if the nobility paid their taxes, which enraged the people of France. -
The Tennis Court Oath
The Tennis Court Oath was an act of rebellion against the monarchy of France. It happened when the 3rd estate of France took over a Tennis court of King Louis XVI to show their anger and aggression. They swore not to separate until they came up with a constitution for France, giving it the name "The Tennis Court Oath." -
Storming of The Bastille
When Jacques Necker was dismissed by King Louis XVI, the 3rd estate saw it as an act of aggression toward the National Assembly. The 3rd estate stormed The Bastille in an attempt to grab ammunition, guns, and gunpowder to effectively start a revolution. It was very violent and is what some believe to be the beginning of the French Revolution. -
Declaration of The Rights of Man
The Declaration of the Rights of Men was a list of all the meanings of the French Revolution. It contained all the demands and natural rights of the people that they rightfully had and have been denied. They changed their name from the National Assembly to the Legislative assembly. -
The Women's March
Prices of bread keep rising causing the people of Paris to snap fully and they storm Versailles. The mob of mostly women stormed the building and beheaded multiple guards and killed more. The mob demands that the monarchy is to live amongst the people and take them back to Paris. -
Rise of political clubs
The clubs were used to bring ideas of the French Revolution together and people with different types of ideas. For example, the Jacobins were one of the main clubs and were seen as a very calm and easy-going club that was merciful. Later the Jacobins became extremists. -
The monarchy tries to escape from France
After being trapped in Paris by the people and constantly disrespected with almost no power, they try to make an attempt to flee Austria where Marie is from. On his voyage there he is spotted by a border guard and the King tries to show everyone who he is thinking people will bow down to him because he is their king, but it backfires and people see him as a traitor. -
Champ de Mars Massacre
The Champ de Mars Massacre was a small civil battle against the National Assembly. It was over if the monarchy should still keep its throne, which the National Assembly said yes even though the monarchy was under the constitution. The extremist revolutionists went on a rampage killing many French civilians. -
Death of King Louis XVI
King Louis XVI, after being accused of treason, was executed in front of the people of France. He was killed by the Guillotine and his head was displayed to the people. After his death, France was considered a republic and the Monarchy was dead. -
Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat
Marat was assassinated in his home by Charlotte Corday when she walked in to give him a list of names that are traitors. She murdered him because she wanted peace and was tired of his radicalism and all the deaths he was responsible for. Instead, it caused more outrage. -
Reign of Terror
The reign of terror was a 6 month of paranoia and legal violence. Constant executions and hundreds of people died each month. Anyone who was accused of being against the rebellion was executed quickly. -
Execution of Marie Antoinette
Marie was executed in a disrespectful way compared to her husband. She was put in a criminal wagon paraded through the mob of angry people. She was beheaded without being able to say a word. -
Trial of Marie Antoinette
Marie's trial was sad. She was just married into the family and didn't want to be involved. During her trial she was accused of incest with her child which shocked her and some of the people, changing the views of the revolution. It especially changed the views of mothers and women. -
Execution of Maximilian of Robespierre and his people
Robespierre was executed for basically becoming a dictator. He wanted a religion where he was basically seen as Jesus and he was fear-mongering trying to scare people and gain power. People decided that the only way to end the violence was to execute him and his followers. -

Napoleon was a military leader that led France's grand army across Europe whipping out all of France's enemies. He was crazed by power and loved by the people. He was later elected as their leader
