The Estates General was called after a failed attempt to get the noblilty to be taxed. The Estates General had not been called since 1614.

The 3rd Estate wanted to be more apart of the Estates General. They separted from the 1st and 2nd Estates. They wanted to pass laws and reforms to the government.

After being locked out of the meeting room, the third estate broke into a tennis court at Versailles. They took an oath to stay their until a new constitution was established.

People in Paris gathered weapons to defend the city. In search for arms and gunpowder a mob stormed the Bastille.

Unfair treatment of the 3rd Estate made the peasants and farmers cause havoc. They attach maors and estates by burning them down.

Rumors went around about hoarding grain in the palace. Women were enraged about the rumors and marched to the palace demanding bread. They also demanded the King and Queento leave Versailles and move to Paris, which they did.

Other countries fear that French revolutionaries would spread to their countries. Revolitionaries wanted war to unify the country.

The National Assembly created the National Convetion from the fear of rebels. Made Fance a Republic.

The Jacobins prisoned and tried Louis XVI for treason. He was sentenced to death by the Guillontine.

Robespierre gained power in France after the execution of Louis XVI. He governed France a a dictaror and his reign was known as The Reign of Terror. During his Reign almost 40,000 people were killed due to him eliminating threats.

After the execution of Robespierre, bougeoisie peopel begin to take action. They freed Jacobin prisoners and executed Robespierre cohorts.

The new constitution formed the Directory. It was a new government that had 5 officers.

Overthrew the directory and took over power. With Napoleon in power France expanded into Italy and exerting influences over other powers.

Napoleon invaded Russia to punish Alexander. Alexander knew his intentions and planned to lead Napoleon depper into Russia.

Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo marked the end of his reign. After that he died.
