    The Fall of The Bastille
    The Bastille was a prison in France. The mob stole weapons from the royals. The 7 prisoners were freed by the large mob of French citizens just after that.
    This is very important because although it was only 7 people that were freed, it showed the French people that they could rebel and be successful.
  • The October Days

    The October Days
    A large crowd of French women began demanding bread because they were all starving. They went to the king and demanded that he also return to Paris with them. When he did, the women carried him after killing his guards.
    This shows that the king had to abide by the people at this point even though it was very dangerous.
  • Attempt to Flee

    Attempt to Flee
    The royal family made an attempt to travel out of Paris to Belgium where they would be safer. The family was reconized in their travel. THey were brought to Paris as prisoners.
    THis shows a clear end to the familys power. They are now prosioners to the people that they once ruled.

    France Declares War on Austria
    The French people wanted to begin a war. They believed that this would unite the country and spread revolutions throughout the world. The Legislative Assembly declared war on Austria.
    This showed that the French people were desperate to unite the country. I do not think that starting a war was the best way to do this but this is very important.

    Large mobs gathered in Paris. They broke into the kings palace. The Swiss guards shot at the mobs and it was the most deadly day of the revolution at this point.
    THe monarchy no longer had any power. This is important because it shows how badly the mobs wanted them out of power.

    The terror of the guillotine was felt for two years. They killed anyone who they believed were against France. Many innocent people were killed by them.
    THis is important because it shows that just because the French revolution got rid of the monarchy, not everything is good yet. There is still devastation.

    Louis XVI is excuted
    There was a trial of sorts. It was decided that he should be executed. On January 21 1793, the people got their wish.
    THis was the complete end to the monarchy. His death was a victory for the revolution.

    The leader of the terror movement in France was finally taken out. He had total control over who was killed. He decided to kill two of his friends that were very popular with the French people.
    THis is important because the french people had better control over their country again.
  • Napoleon Takes Control

    This year Napoleon, who was very popular in France, siezed control of the country. He made hinself ruler for life. This took the power away from the Directory.
    THis marked a new era in France. Because the country was very reliant on the militay, Napoleon seemed fit as leader.

    Napoleon's greatest victory
    THis was the battle of Austerlitz. The french troops were lead by Napoleon, a powerful leader. He won the battle for France and became very famous in the country.
    This is important because france gained a new figurehead because of his battle success. France was still very focused on wars.
