  • conscription crisis

    Near the end half of the war they were still in need of volunteer soldiers but no one was signing up so prime minister Robert Borden introduced conscription in the Military Service Act. The rule were if you were male between the ages of 20-45 you had to go to war. The English believed it was a good idea to help Great Britain but the French were outraged and believed they shouldn't have to go because it wasn't their battle to fight. This caused a big rift in French English relations.
  • Duplessis ruling

    In 1933 Maurice Duplessis was elected. His goal was to make Quebec independent by devepoing Quebec's natural resources and drivng its economy. He blamed English for all of Quebec's problems. Quebec citizens admired his passion and followed him in his decisions. Hiss era of ruling was considered the dark era. While he promised to make Quebec independent he was secretly taking money from the federal government and not telling the people. The time of his ruling is also called the corrupt era.
