  • Champlain

    Samuel de Champlain formed alliances with the Wendat, Algquinon and Montagnais. They then demanded that he help them with their war against the Iroquis. Later the Iroquois would become allies with the british
  • French and Indian War

    French and Indian War
    A dispute between Britain and France turned to violence during the Battle of Jumonville Glen. This Started the French and Indian War between the british and french. This war eventually turned in to the seven year war. This war was named after the two main forces in it the French and their native allies who were fighting the british who also had native allies.
  • Royal Proclamation

    the Royal Proclamation was issued King George III after The end of the Seven year war when Great Britain required French lands. The proclamation was ment to Stabilize relationships with First Nations and to organize Great Britains empire through regulation of trade and land.
  • Red River Colony

    Red River Colony
    The Red River Colony was a colonization project set up by Thomas Douglas on 300 000 square kilometres of land given to him by the hudson bay company under what is referred to as the selkirk concession. Changes during the development of Canada led to the colony creating the main area of what is now manitoba.
  • Conffederation

    On this day the dominion of Canada was created by three british colonis forming 4 Canadian provinces; Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
  • Treaty 1

    It was the first treaty made. It was made between the canadian government and first nations in the area of southern manitoba. It was made a year after manitoba joined confederation.
  • Indian Act

    It was formed by the Canadian Parliament and contains specific legal rights and legal dissabilities for registerd Indians. it prohibited First Nations from voting and exempted them from paying income tax.
  • Duck lake

    Louis Riel and the metis fought with the Northwest Mounted Police at Duck lake because the upset over land issues with the government. Riel was captured and hanged for treason.
  • Alberta and Saskatchewan

    Alberta and Saskatchewan becom part of Canada.
  • Canada Act

    The Canada Act was passed by the parliament of th UK to patriate Canadas constitution. It ended the power of the Uk to create laws for Canada.It also gave Canada a Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
  • Indian Act Amendment

    The indian act was amended so that indian women who marry a non registered Indian they still have full status of Indian and so will their children but not their grandchildren.
  • Meech Lake Accord

    The Meech lake accord was debated by prime minister Brian Mulroney and ten province premiers. The main point was to persuade the province of quebec to endorse the 1982 Canada Constitution.
  • Nunavut

    Nunavut
    Nunavut was created and was officially seperated from the North West Territories this day. It became the largest territory and the newest in Canada. Iqaluit was the named the capital. The boundaries of Nunavut had its boundiries set in 1993 but did notofficially become a territory till 1999.
