    Phillip II was in power. He successfully invaded Portugal.

    Spain invaded England to overthrow Protestant people in England. Spain was unsuccessful in the invasion and lost money and poeple.

    Spain sliver mines wasn't producing enough. The currency became inefficient and Spain lost even more money.

    Philip III bequeath his son Philip IV Spain debt. Philip IV made Spain go to war to much and lost a lot of money.
