    By October 30th Hidalgo had managed to gather 80 thousand troups and marched towards Mexico City. He managed to over come the Spanish army with his small army, forcing the Spaniards to retreat.

    Although Hidalgo and Allende had the advantage of a greater number of rebels General Calleja was a strategic fighter. The rebel army ended up breaking rank and fleeing from the battlefield. Hidalgo moved forward hoping to find more troops in Coahuila and Texas.
