    In the early 1810 they started to do secret meeting to plan and conspire agaisnt the government. This meeting would be disguised as "book club" meeting, but they were actually planing a way to overthrow the Spanish government. This meetings consisted of important members like Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez, Ignacio Allende, Miguel Hidalgo and Aldama. This were all the Mexican independence intiated.

    Everthing was going on the right direction and they were planning to start the revolution in 17 days, but Galvan a young man, who's job was to record all of Josefa's meetings, betrayed them and alerted the Spanish government. This forced them to rush their revolution plans. Allende was told that the Spanish were on to him so he left Queretaro and went to alert Hidalgo.

    El grito de Dolores
    This is when the famous call of war by Miguel Hidalgo takes place. He calls upon all insurgents to rise in arms and start fighting the Spanish. This is where the war of Independence begins. The grito took place from a cathedral in Dolores, Hidalgo. Probably the most important date in all of the Independence movement.

    The Siege of Guanajuato
    This is one of the most important attacks of the intial part of the war. A large mob of insurgents came into Guanajuato taking the Spanish offguard and killing a large amount of soldiers. This was an important victory for Miguel Hidalgo.
  • Battle of Monte de Cruces

    Battle of Monte de Cruces
    An important battle in the early part of the Independence war fought between Hidalgo's insurgent army against the Spanish army of Torcuato Trujillo and the insurgents won. This battle took place in Sierra de Cruces between Mexico City and Toluca. This battle marked the furthest advances of the Independence campaign, problem was that Hidalgo then decided to retreat to Guadalajara.

    Battle of Calderon Bridge
    This battle was a decisive battle in which almost 100,000 mexicans revolutionist fought agaisnt barely 6,000 Spaniards. The fight took place in the banks of the Calderin River, close to Guadalara. This battle marked the end of the first phase of the Independence war.
  • Miguel Hidalgo's death

    Miguel Hidalgo's death
    On July 30th 1811 Hidalgo was captured, then shot, and later on decapitated so his head could be hanged in the corner of the Alhondiga de Granaditas. This was a very tragic moment for the Insurgents since they lost their leader, but they were lucky enought to have Morelos rise to power. Morelos became the new prominent leader of the revolutionist.

    This is an important battle Morelos led which was lost against the Spanish. The royalist were victorious in this battle and this took a big blow on Mexican revolutionists. Above all the issue of this batttle is that Morelos was caputred and executed.

    Plan de Iguala
    A plan agreed by Vicente Guerrero and Iturbide. The plan consisted of Mexico becoming a Constitutional Monarchy, Catholicism would be the dominating religion and creoles and peninsulares were to be treated equally.

    Here is when the treaty of Cordoba is set and defines the end of the independence. The treaty of Cordoba consisted of similar ideas to that of the Plan de Iguala.
