Literary Club
This event took place in the early months of 1810. Hidalgo met Ignacio Allende. Ignacio introduced him to a few of his friends these included: Juan de Aldama, Miguel Dominguez, Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez, Epigemio Gonzalez, Marino Galván, and others. This group organized a "literary club" to cover up for the conspiracy they were planning. They decided that the uprising would take place the 8th of December in 1810. -

Discovery of the conspiracy
Today, Marino Galvan who was a postal clerk told his superior about the conspiracy that was being planned. Spanish authoritys then went to search Epigemio Gonzalez's house. There they discovered many weapons and ammunition. Therefore the authority arrested Epigemio. The word was spread and it reached Doña Josefa. When she heard the news that they were discovered, she told Ignacio Perez to tell Ignacio Allende. Perez couldnt find Allende so when he found el Cura Hidalgo he told him. -

Guanajuato
On this date Hidalgo began his approach to Guanajuato. Before he arrived to Guanajuato, Hidalgo asked Juan Antonio de Riaño to surrender. In exchange Hidalgo offered protection for the Spaniards. After Riaño heard what had happened to the other towns Riaño preffered to fight. When Hidalgo arrived, Riaño sent all the Spaniards or “gachupines” to the Alondiga de Granaditas for protection.
