    The Roman empire started when Augustus Caesar, Mark Antony, and Lepidus started the second triumvirate. Augustus ended up defeating Antony and Lepidus and became the first emperor of Rome. While emperor Augustus started the Pax Romana.

    Augustus Caesar was the firt emperor of Rome. He was considered to be one of the best emperors of Rome. He gave jobs to everyone and improved the government. August also made a time of pease called the pax Romana. Augustus Also expanded the empire greatly.

    The Pax Romana was a time of peace for the Roman Empire. The Pax Romana was started by Augustus Caesar. During this time the Empire maintained a good government and was never attacked. This period lasted for about 200 Years.

    Nero was most famouse for the burning of Rome. Nero set almost half of Rome on fire and blamed it on the Christian so he would not get in trouble. Fortunatly after Nero was gone Rome was rebuilt and started back up.

    Diocletian
    Diocletian thought the empire was to big and divided it in two. He ruled the east and ordered a co-emperor to rule the west. There ended up being four emperors ruling Rome. This was called a tetrarchy. Diocletian increased the size the the roman army to keep Rome strong an defend borders.

    Constantine re-connected the Roman empire and moved the capital to Constantinople. This was because Constantinople was wealthy because of trade routes. The routes allowed them to trade goods, ideas, and also religeions.

    The Roman empire started to collapse because of constant attacks. The germanic tribes attacked Rome over and over until finally a group called the Ostrogoths defeated the roman army. While the western half was conquered the eastern side florished and became the Byzantine empire.

    Marus Aurelius was considered to be the last of the five good emperors. He spent most of his rein defending Rome and fighting off enemy's. This kept Rome strong and kept it powerful. Before he died he chose his son Commodus as his succsesor.

    Commodus
    Commodus was the start of the fall of the Roman Empire. Insted of spending the mony on Rome, defending it and keeping it economically strong he spent a lot of the money on himself. When he ran low on money he ordered the wealthy to die and took their money. He was later assasinated.

    Rome started off as Polytheistic. This means they belived in many gods. Later a Roman Emperor named Constantine saw a sign in the sky that he belived was Christian. He then had his soldiers paint the sign on their sheilds for battle. They ended up winning the battle and switched the religion to Christianity.
