    The War has Began!
    On the morning of 16 September 1810, Miguel Hidalgo called remaining locals who were in the market on that day, he told them he wanted to strike for independence and he convinced the people the people who lived in Dolores to come with him

    THIS MEANS WAR!
    They went to Guanajuato where the Spanish hid themselves inside the public granary. The army grew to 30,000 and the battle was crazy. Over 500 Spanish and creoles were killed. The rebels now marched on to Mexico City.

    VICTORY OH YEAAHH!
    Miguel Hidalgo's army attacked Spanish in the Battle of El Monte de las Cruces, and won.

    Battle of the Bridge of Calderón
    The Spanish fought the Battle of the Bridge of Calderón and won against the army, that made rebels run towards the United States-Mexican border, in hope that they would get away.
  • And the war continues

    And the war continues
    Calderón fled north but was captured and executed. He was followed by other peasant leaders who all led armies of native and racially mixed revolutionaries against the Spanish.
  • Consiquences

    All of the rebel leaders were found guilty and sentenced to death, except for Mariano Abasolo, who was sent to Spain to serve a life sentence. They were shot in the back as a sign of dishonor.

    In 1820, liberals took power in Spain, and the new government promised reforms to appease the Mexican revolutionaries.

    New Rules
    Agustín de Iturbide, started something called Plan of Iguala with Vicente Guerrero. This made it so Mexico would be an independent constitutional monarchy, that made Mexicans of Spanish descent would be regarded as equal to pure Spaniards.

    . On August 24, 1821, Spanish Viceroy Juan de O'Donojú signed the Treaty of Córdoba, which approves a plan to make Mexico an independent constitutional monarchy
