    Early months of 1810 (Initiation)
    Secret meetings between Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez, Miguel Hidalgo, Ignacio Allende, Juan de Aldama, and Miguel Dominguez start to take place. This meetings took place to discuss a plan in which they took out the Spaniards. They had everything planned. This meeting were called the “Literary club”.
  • Plan Discovered (Initiation)

    Plan Discovered (Initiation)
    The movement planned by Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez, Miguel Hidalgo, Ignacio Allende, Juan de Aldama, and Miguel Dominguez was discovered. This led to Epigmenio Gonzalez being arrested and all of their weapons taken away. Also, Josefa informed Ignacio Perez about this and sent him to tell Aldama about it. She also said that the movement had to start earlier than expected. When Josefa was arrested, she didn’t gave out the names of the people involved.

    Grito de Dolores (Initiation)
    The Independence, led by Allende, Hidalgo, and Aldama starts. The first action taken was Hidalgo ringing the church bell while carrying a banner of the Virgen de Guadalupe. This action attracted many people to join. This event is known as “El Grito de Dolores”
  • Arriving in Guanajuato (Consolidation)

    Arriving in Guanajuato (Consolidation)
    The army formed arrived to Guanajuato and had its first battle. The army formed by Hidalgo had nearly 30,000 people. The army attacked the Alhondiga de Granaditas, were Spaniards were hiding and containing hostages. Hidalgo and the army defeated the Spaniards.

    Monte de las Cruces (Consolidation)
    The battle of Monte de las Cruces takes place. Hidalgo’s army came out victorious, but it came with a loss as well. This tough battle made Hidalgo take the decision to rest instead of attacking Mexico City, which led to 11 more years of war. If they had headed towards Mexico City the war could've ended much earlier.
  • Battle of Bridge de Calderon (Consolidation)

    Battle of Bridge de Calderon (Consolidation)
    The Battle of Bridge de Calderon took place. Hidalgo’s army were more than the Spanish, but the Spaniards had the best equipment and ammunition hit a rebels wagon, which led to Hidalgo’s army to leave and head towards the North.

    Hidalgo is captured and executed in the North. Hidalgo’s execution was delayed since he was a priest and his position had to be taken away from him. After the execution, Hidalgo’s head was put in a spike. Jose Morelos becomes the new leader of the army.

    Battle of Temalaca (Resistance)
    The Battle of Temalaca takes place. The Spaniards won the battle and captured Jose Morelos. Morelos was later executed for being accused of treason.

    Plan of Iguala (Consummation)
    The Plan of Iguala is created. The Plan had mainly three major guarantees. The three guarantees were that Mexico becomes a constitutional monarchy, equality between the peninsulares and criollos, and the roman catholic religion is the only one practiced.

    Mexico finally gained independence thanks to Iturbide, which became the first emperor of Mexico although his reign was short and horrible.
