French declares war
Austria and Prussia scared that a revolutionary act will happen in their home country, went to France to change the government back to absolute monarchy. The Legislative Assembly in disagreement declare war on them. -
Reign of Terror
Maximilien Robespierre leader of the Jacobins becomes a dictator and creates a reign of terror in France which is responsible for more than 40,000 executions -
Decapitation of King Louis XVI
King Louis the 16 now that he was a common citizen, was arrested and charged with treason. He was later decapitated in the guillotine. -
End of Revolution
The French revolution ends with the end of the reign of terror after the execution of Robespierre.
