It started in 541. The plague came from boats coming from Egypt. The boats would be carrying grain to trade. When they would dock before they went to get the grain. Rats infected with the plague would get in the grain and get the people sick.

When the year of 565 came to it wast he height of the Byzantine Empire. But something that happened to make it come to a slow decline. The ruler of the Byzantine Empire died, Justinian. He died from old age.

In the 7th century the empire was attacked by Islamic armies. They lost Syria, the Holy Land, and North Africa. After this thye had to go to the European states to get help to get their land back. The land they could not get back Syria and Palestine

When the attackers would attack, they attacked in different places. It would weaken certain places. Avars, Slavs, and Bulgars would attack the north side of the city. Russians, Arab Armies, and the Turks also attacked the empire.

Basil the second was the ruler after Justinian. When he started ruling the Byzantine Empire, it had a slow hill decline. The ruler after Basil the second did not do well when he ruled. After Basil the second died the Crusaders started attacking. When they would attack it would weaken the towns and the country in general.

In 1054 the churches split. It split because of all the differences it had between the two churches. One went to Catholic and One went to Orthodox.

In 1204 the city of Constanstinople came to an end. The crusaders took over the city. The muslims have had this goal to conquer Constanstinople for centeries.

In 1453 the Byzantine Empire was finally conquered. It was conquered by Ottoman Turks. The Byzantine culture, law, and administation came to an end.
