    The Encomienda System was a rule that Conquistadores got land with all the Indians on it. Officially they weren't slaves but they were forced to work for people without getting money for it.Normally the Conquistadores had the function to protect & to make them catholic the Indians but the Indians were exploit by the people and sometimes even dispatched. After a while the male slaves were exterminated and then the Spanish conquistadores imported slaves from Africa.All this was illegal.

    In 1519 " Hernan Cortez " tries to conquer the aztec empire with 500 men. He and his "crew " arrive at the opening of the river "Tabaco ". This is the beginning of colonisation through the spanish. Now they call there conquest "mexico". For them it is the most important conquest. Spanish settler become big parts of land. They call them "Haziendas". Natives work for them as slaves.

    Tenochtitlan, the capital of the Aztec Empire, is the largest city in the world, with a population of over 500,000 people. Because of a treaty with Ixtlilxochitl,The Spanish could easily prepare an attack on Tenochtitlan and after they bared the city which was only achievable over three dams, they broke the catering. The spanish leaguer on Tenochtitlan begins. And so New Spain,the colony of Spain, was founded.

    The Spanish carry on to eradicate the Pueblos peoples' traditions, culture and religion. In this year the Pueblo Revolt takes place in the Province of New Mexico: Many pueblos rise up against Spanish colonalization. The results are land grants (Landzuweisung) to each Pueblo, a public defender for their right in Spanish courts.
