    In 509 BCE, Ancient Rome became a republic. A republic is chosen by the people. The Roman Empire was the most powerful governal body in the whole Mediterrean. The economy of Rome was suffering. More goods were getting imported rather than exported. When more goods get imported than exported, it makes you loose welth. Rome was falling apart.

    On September 23, 63 BCE Augustus Caeser was the new emperor of the Roman Empire. in his time of ruling, he expanded the empire, & started to improve the rodes and bridges. He made the Roman empire do good. He also improved trade which made wealth go up. This made the economy stronger and let him get more land. His religion was polyistic which means he believed in many gods.

    In 19 CE, Augustus Caesar died. Since he had no sons, somebody new had to take over and that new person was Marcus Aurelius.

    Marus Aurelius was last of 5 "good emporor". He unified the Roman Empire economically. He was more of a fighting kind of emperor. He spent most of his time putting down rebellions and fighting off invavsions. He got some more land for the Roman Empire. When he was done ruling, his son Commodus was the new emperor.

    Constantine ruled from 306-337 CE. He brought Rome back together. He converted to christian. He granted the freedom to worship and he encouraged christians.     Since Diocletian split Rome into the east and the west, there was a lot of changes. The east was more wealthier beacuse he border was much smaller and Diocletian only had to hire less people making him save money. Also the eastern side had more places to trade with. On the western side there wasnt a lot of trading routes and there was more borders to cover making the western side harder to covor and the poorer side.

    Commodus ruled from 180 to 192 CE. he only ruled for 12 years for a million reasons. All he wanted to do was have the "fun" not the seriuos part of being the emperor. He loved the vhariot races amd the gladitor battles. He allowed others to help him run the empire. He paid for all the fun in the economy that the Roman Empire got tired of it and was assassinated December 31, 192 CE.

    Under Commodus's power, over 50 years of decline, the empire started to fall. Several problems led to the empire falling like weak rules, the size of the empire, & serious economic problems.

    284-305 CE. Diocletian was known for splitting Rome up. He decided to make the Roman empire into 2 parts the western and the eastern. Since he split Rome up into two parts, he needed somebody to help him take care of it. So he hired Maximian for the western and Diocletian in the east.

    The Roman Empire had many things leading up to the fall of the empire. Some countries attacked and took over the western side but did not get the eastern side. Eastern stayed strong while the west went crumbling down. Some weak laws like a weak government, weak economy, weak military & not clear set of laws can make a empire crumble just like the Roman Empire did.
