    Life of Muhammad

    Muhammad was born in Mecca 570 A.D. He made his first revelation in 610 A.D. He had too leave to Medina in 622 A.D because officials were persecuting him. Later, he was welcome back to Mecca after Islam became the regional religion. He died in 632 A.D.

    Era in which relatives of muhammad became caliphs, successor to the the messenger of god. There was only 4 caliphs, and the last caliph died, Ali, died in 661.

    The arab Muslims took advantage of the weak Sassanid and invaded most of the Persian territory.After several years of fighting, the Sassanid empire fell and the muslims took over.

    This dispute started after the death of muhammad and they had different ideas of who should be the leader. The Shi'a think they had to be blood relatives of muhammad and the Sunnis think the next leader should be voted. These ideas started fights and later, revolts. With that the civl war started, and they became two seperate civilizations.
