    In 1904 there was a crisis, meanwhile Germany and France had a fight until they established a protectorate in Morocco. On April of 1906 the Algeciras conference was retened. At this point, Spain and France were allowed to impose a protectorate in Morocco.

    In this year, there were many spanish workers at mines, so the Rif tribes attacked them in the Rif iron mines, and this led to the Spanish army to involucrate in this movement.

    The event that happened in 1909 marked the point in which the first years of war that were going to started. The Spanish army organized many tactics and a final plan to occupy Larache, that was located in Morocco. At this point, the war started.

    In this year, Morocco and France signed a treaty that said that Africa would become a French protectorate. This was called the Treaty of Fes. Also Spain gained a little territory from the north part of the country and the south part of Morocco.

    In the 1912, Morocco wad constant attacks against Spain army, it had converted in a frequently thing. But between 1913 and 1919 this attacks calm down and started to be more unusual. At the same time, the WW1 was established in Spain so the Spanish army was more involucred in the WW1 than in the war against Morocco.

    Until 1912, the Spanish army was in a constant attacks war and resistant movements. During the years 1919 to 1920 the selected man to rule the General Command in Melilla was Manuel Fernández Silvestre.
    In 1920, Alberto Castro Girona gain control of Chauen. He didn't have enough army to control all the situation so we had to build up forts. At the starts of 1921, The general Fernández Silvestre occupied customs establishing a camp and in 1921 he occupied the beach of Sidi Driss.

    The troops of Fernández Silvestre wanted to continue occupying different places. In June of 1921 they took the Abarran mountain, but they were eliminated by a group call the rebels.General Fernández Silvestre died, and the last thousands of soldiers reached the Arruit mountain. They were surrounded, forced to surrender and killed.

    Dar Darius was recovered in January 1922. Miguel Primo de Rivera established a coup d'état against the Spanish government. His dictatorship started and he consolidated the Spanish presence in Morocco because of the military victory. Then the attacks long until 1924.

    During all this time, France was at the shadow of the conflict, but in 1924 they started to be more involved in this movement. They occupied militarily the north part of their territory. The Rif tribes send them a big offensive to occupied Fez. This was the start of the Battle of Uarga. So this event stops the French attacking Fez but then, the decides to attacked the Rif tribes by the south of their territories.

    Then, after the Battle of Uarga and the landing of Alhomecas, this territory became in peace (pacified). After that, the Rif troops forced Abd-el-Krim to hand over.
