    Fall of Rome

    During the Fall of Rome, the Visigoths, led by Alaric, raided and completely destroyed the walls of Rome and raided the Roman Empire's capital. The Visigoths went burning the Empire and looting their way all throughout the city. The reason this was so important and monumental is because it was the first time in hundreds of years, the city of Rome was in the hands of an outsider. Even though the Romans got attacked, they were slowly falling from within due to severe economic troubles.
  • Reign of Justinian

    Reign of Justinian

    During the Reign of Justinian, he was able to fully reorganize the government of the Byzantine Empire. He also helped multiple improvements to reduce the corruption within the empire. Justinian's rise to reign started in 527 AD, when he became the co-emperor to his uncle, Justin I. He was extremely important due to his efforts to strengthen the empire once again, and bring it back to its former glory. The Byzantine empires government succeeded greatly under his rule.

    The Reign of Charlemagne

    During the Reign of Charlemagne, he led many military campaigns to expand the kingdom and convert the invaded lands to Christianity. Charlemagne was known as the defender of Christianity, and donated a lot of land and money to his fait and church. He also had efforts to protect the popes. As a way of thanks, Pope Leo III crowned Charlemagne emperor of the Romans. This was significant because without the reign of Charlemagne, the Romans wouldn't have been as dominating as they were.

    Rurik begins his rule of Novgorod

    During Rurik's rule of Novgorod, he built the Holmgard settlement, as well as founding the first real significant dynasty in Russian history! Rurik and his beginnings are rare and hard to find, he was noted as being mysterious and unknown. There is much debate based upon how he first took control of some of his land as well. None the less, his rule was extremely historical and important. He was so extremely important because he started the first incarnation of the modern Russia we know today.

    William of Normandy conquers England

    While William of Normandy conquered England, he defeated the military of, king Harold II of England. After conquering Englands king he crowned himself as the new king William I. During his reign, he created change within the administrative, political and social systems. Before his reign, he was considered, "one of the mightiest nobles in France..", before leading his conquest upon England. His conquest was important because it changed the course of English history, and within their government.

    Golden Horde conquers Russia

    The Golden Horde was a group founded by Batu Khan, Genghis Khans grandson. It consisted of Mongols who ruled over the entirety of Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Russia, Moldova, and the Caucasus. They were able to conquer the principalities of Kievan Rus and expand their rule across territory. They were extremely important because, they melded a lot of cultures from Asia, to Europe, and even from the Middle East. They did this all while ruling Russia for more than two centuries.

    100 Years War

    The 100 Years War was a battle between France and England in the 14th and 15th century. The war was started over a series of multiple conflicts. The House of Lancaster, House of Plantagenet, the rulers of the Kingdom of England, and the House of Valois all fought over the rights to the throne, and rulership over the Kingdom of France, as well as English territorial possessions within France. This was an important period of time because it was a fight for the french throne that lasted 116 years.

    The Black Death

    The Black Death was a bubonic plague pandemic that occurred in Afro-Eurasia in the years 1346-53. The plague is caused by Yersinia pestis, which is a bacteria that usually spreads with the help of fleas. The Black Death estimates to have killed over 25 million people. Symptoms of the plague are weakness, abdominal pain, diarrhea and vomiting, bleeding from your mouth, nose, rectum, or under your skin. The Black Death pandemic caused widespread panic and unfortunately took the lives of many.

    Joan of Arc leading the French

    Joan of Arc led the French army to an extremely beneficial victory, in the year 1429. At 13, Joan insisted that she could hear the voices of God attempting to send her a message. After hearing this calling, she did all she could to convince anyone of what was happening. Thankfully, someone believed in her and allowed her to lead France in this fight. This victory was extremely important because it worked as a repulse on an English attempt to conquer France amidst the Hundred Years War!

    Constantinople falls to the Turks

    The Byzantine Empire came to an abrupt end when Constantinople's seemingly indestructible walls came to fault of a constant barrage of cannons from all sides. The Ottoman Empire took over the capital city of the Byzantine Empire, Constantinople. This event is extremely daunting and marks the end of the Roman Empire. After nearly 1,500 years, the Roman empire has finally fallen. This event is said to mark the end of the Middle Ages, and the start of the Renaissance.
