Second Estate forced king Louis to call a meeting of the Estates- General (Assembly of representatives from all 3 estates). The meeting was held on May 5, 1789 in Versailles Castle.

The estates voted to authorize the National Assembly, to announce the end of absolute monarchy and the beggining of a representative government (constitutional monarchy, republic democracy)

A large crowd of people where searching for gunpowder and arms angryly shooted the Bastille (prison). The Fall of the Bastille was a very important act in the revolution and is now known as an important date in France.

During the night of August 4, noblemen made grand speaches about equality, love, and liberty. The next morning, the old regime was dead.

The National Assembly added the Declaration of Rights of Man (Fundamental document of the French Revolution).

A huge amount of Parisian women demanded the increase of money in the cost of bread. The women marched on Versailles as they turned their anger to the king and queen. The women demanded that the king and queen returned to paris and after sometime, the king agreed. They both left the palace with their servants and family,never again to see Versailles.

During June of 1791, the royal family tries to escape from France and into Netherlands. Right before crossing (in the border) they were caught and brought back to Paris by some guards.

The National Assembly finished the constitution where Louis carefully approved. The constitution created a limited constitutional monarchy. They took away almost all the power the King, Queen and his authority had. They made a Legislative Assembly where they could create laws and approve or dissaprove the declaracions of war.
