MXH Timeline: The Wars of Independence

    This is the start of the incubation stage. The Creoles wanted to gain more rights, and more opportunities. The spaniards did not gave them the freedom and liberty to do what they wanted, so they started thinking about independence from them. So Miguel Hidalgo, Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez, Ignacio Allende and Juan Aldama started planning what was called the conspiracy. They wanted to plan out how they wouold get rid of the spaniards.

    This was the date when the Queretaro corregidora wife, told about the conspiracies. So they needed to see what to do since they knew their plan. Either cancel it or do it right then they had no option.

    Sept 16, 1810
    Known as the day for independence of New Spain from Spain. It is the day we celebrate the Mexican Independence. Since it was the day Miguel Hidalgo declared independence from Spain Where he stated that they were going to independence in Dolores at the Grito de Dolores. .

    Hidalgo began to move into Guanajuato, he went with all his troops to the mines of the alhóndigas de granaditas, the wall was to big. But one of the attacker known as El Pupila took a tar and set it on fire burning most of the gachupines of the other side and making it easier to enter.

       October 30, 1810
    Hidalgo led his men to Monte de las Cruces. After a long battle the spaniards were outnumbered and returned to the city. Hidalgo and Allende won this battle. But they made a fatal mistake not going into Mexico City providing 11 more years of war.

    The Battle of Calderon bridge, Callejas army was just 8,000 men compared to hidalgos 80,000 men. The only difference being that Callejas army was way more equipped and trained for war than Hidalgos. The Spanish made an explosion leading to the rebels leaving.

    July 31 1811
    Hidalgo and some of his troops were captured and send to Chihuahua were Hidalgo was found guilty and they decapitated his head and was placed at the granary where the explosion took place.

    November 1815
    The Battle of Temalaca, in Puebla, now Jose Maria Morelos was in charge of the rebels and Manuel de la Concha of the Spaniards. The battle was won by the spanish. Morelos the commander of the rebels, became a fugitive and was captured and was taken to Mexico City to be charged at court and was executed.

    February 24, 1821
    Final stage of the independence, when the Spanish accept Mexican Independence with the Plan of Iguala. It states that Mexico had separated itself from Spain and that it was going to be a constitutional monarchy where roman catholic church was going to be the religion.

    The fight for independence is over, Mexico becomes independent from Spain after 11 years of fighting. This is when Iturbide goes in Mexico City.
