    Father Hidalgo concentrated himself on improving the economy and introduced new industries in Dolores. A few years after his arrival he was introduced to Allende and later on to another group of people that would start a conspiracy to free the people from New Spain and built new laws and constitution.

    The Conspirators
    The conspirators were all admonished to hold their tongues, Marino Galvan who was the postal clerk, leaked the news to his superior who then informed the audiencia in Mexico city. The Spanish authorities then searched the house of Epigmenio Gonzalez in Queretaro and found ammunition and weapons that would be used in the independence move.

    Dolores
    Doña Josefa entrusted Ignacio Perez with the task of carrying the news of the arrest to Allende in San Miguel. He then passed the message to Juan de Aldama because Allende wasn’t at home. Juan de Aldama later went to father Hidalgo’s house to inform him of the arrest warrants and decided to give a go to the independence movement were they gathered all the conspirators and volunteers in the small church in Dolores.
  • El Pipila

    El Pipila
    Hidalgo was joined by hundreds of workers from the silver mines. Riaño gave the order to open fire, then El Pipila gathered pine torches and lit them up under the wooden gate and opened a way for the indians to pass. In this raid most of the gachupines were killed.
  • Monte de las Cruces

    Monte de las Cruces
    The battle took place in Monte de las Cruces. Where Hidalgo took a small disciplined spanish army and forced them to retreat into Mexico. By now, Hidalgo was short on ammunition and had to retreat which cost the movement eleven more years.

    Hidalgo faces trial

    Allende and Hidalgo had numerical superiority but the spanish forces were aided by a battlefield accident. Allende and HIdalgo retreated into safe territory but they were caught and executed Allende was also killed and Hidalgo was taken to trial where he was charged with heresy and treason.

    Hidalgo killed
    The firing squad follow their orders and at dawn of that day Miguel Hidalgo was killed. He was decapitated and his head was inserted into a pole and displayed on the charred wall of granary in Guanajuato to scare and threaten potential rebels.

    Jose Maria Morelos

    Morelos trained a small army that would control Mexico City.
    Morelos later called the congress of Chilpancingo meeting to formally declared independence. The spaniards then took back the encirclement of Mexico City and Morelos was captured and escorted to Mexico City where he was killed.
  • Plan de Iguala

    Plan de Iguala
    The Plan de Iguala was established to attract conservative support and to proclaim Mexico as an independent state. Agustin de Iturbide was one the generals who came up with this plan and the leader of the Tres Garantias, an army that would protect and defend the ideals of Mexico.
    This event led to the new ideals of Mexico and how it would change Mexicos destiny forever.

    Coronation

    This date marked the end of the tough eleven years of war. By now Mexico was a free country and independent. Iturbide would now start making new changes and the peninsulares and creoles shared equally social and political rights.
