    Early Months of 1810- Initiation
    Independence was not yet in movement. Hidalgo was recruiting people to join his plan to gain independence. Secret meeting were being held. The idea of the independence was a fear for many, big changes, not everyone was prepared to rebel.
  • Sept 13, 1810- Consolidation

     Sept 13, 1810- Consolidation
    Spaniards discovered the meetings, Josefa Ortiz helped Hidalgo by giving him a heads up, plan for independence was now hurried. Hidalgo was determined to continue with his plan and prepared a meeting with people that were following his idea of independence.

    Grito de Dolores. Hidalgo initiated the plan for independence. Everyone was ready to fight against the spanish. Hidalgo was gathering everyone he could to fight against the Spain’s government and army.
  • September 28, 1810- Consolidation

    Alhóndiga de Granaditas: Hidalgo led people to Guanajuato where they conquered it. El pipila was involved when he used a rock to destroy a door and for the people to conquer the spanish in guanajuato, They were successful.
  • October 30, 1810- Resistance

    After being very successful in guanajuato, the people proceeded to west of the capital where everything went downhill. The spaniards were more prepared and Hidalgo’s people were low on ammo. They had to retreat. This caused the extension of the war which was 11 years.

    Hidalgo planned to attack Mexico City, led to terrible results he commanded to retreat, Miguel Hidalgo was taken into custody, he was stripped down of his title as priest, put into trial, found guilty and was executed. His head was placed to display and scare of the rest of the people going against the spaniards.

    The people wanted to continue the movement of independence after Hidalgo’s death, Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon was now in charge and the movement, he was determined to gain independence and the people were very devoted to him.
  • November 1815- Resistance

    November 1815- Resistance
    Battle of Temalac, same thing that happened to Hidalgo happened to Jose Maria. He was captured, put in trial, and executed. Independence continued with another leader, Hidalgo’s ideas continued to develop by others.
  • February 24, 1821- Consummation

     February 24, 1821- Consummation
    Plan de iguala was accepted and finally signed by Juan O’Donoju, he was an important viceroy. The mexicans finally got what they wanted, violence was over. Mexico and Spain were no longer united.
  • September 1821- Consummation

    September 1821- Consummation
    Mexico was now declared independent. Iturbide was named emperor of Mexico after all his hard work guiding mexico to victory. Although Mexico started their independence with difficulties, they later found peace and happiness with the government and the people.
