The royalist army caught up with Miguel Hidalgo's army and ambushed them. Defeating the rebel army. -
Hidalgo was exacuted
Following the capture of Miguel Hidalgo, he was put on triel and was found guilty of heresy and treason. He was executed by firing squad and his corpse was decapitated, and his head fastened to a pole which was displayed on the wall of the granary in guanajuato -
Morelos was captured
Jose Maria Morelos was captured and put on trial. He was found guilty for treason and was executed by firing squad in Mexico City.

The Plan de Iguala was made to attract conservative support. It praised the Spanish endeavor in the New World and held out Spain as the most catholic, holy, heroic, and magnanimous of nations.
