    During the early months of 1810, there was economical and governmental instability in Mexico. This caused the creoles to become restless, because they wanted more rights and better jobs since the Spaniards did not permit it.

    Hidalgo’s and Allende’s army went against Calleja’s. There were many explosions and a Spaniard cannonball hit a rebel wagon causing even more chaos and deaths.

    Doña Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez alerted criollos that the independence movement was discovered and Epigmenio Gonzalez was arrested by the government because of “conspiracies”.

    Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla declared independence for the Mexicans by doing the “Grito de Dolores”.

    The army won their first victory here in the battle of the “Alhondiga de Granaditas” by “El Pipila”. Many people were getting killed for example there was a lot of executed people such as the Spaniards and Criollos.

    The Battle of Monte de las Cruces happened here, it was one of the most important battles in Mexico’s war for independence. It was fought by Miguel Hidalgo and Ignacio Allende’s troops against General Torcuato Trujillo’s troops.

    Miguel Hidalgo died on this day. He and Allende were captured in Monclova were Allende was exiled and Hidalgo was later executed. His head was hanged and shown to everyone in Guanajuato on a wall.

    Battle of Temalca. Jose Maria Morelos y Pavón took Miguel Hidalgo’s place after his death and he lead this battle. Sadly, he lost and was killed while the Spaniards won and captured him.

    The “Plan of Iguala” was created by Agustín Iturbide and Vicente Guerrero. This plan had 3 major guarantees: independent Mexico would be as a constitutional monarchy, Roman Catholic religion would be given a monopoly on the spiritual life of the county and its clergymen would retain all the rights and privileges they currently enjoyed and finally it also stated that the criollos and peninsulares would be treated equally.

    This day was the end of the Mexican Independence. They also decided that they wanted freedom of speech so that’s also why they wanted and gained their independence. The Spanish accepted the Mexican Independence because Juan de O’Donoju signed a treaty with Iturbide.
