The estates meet in a tennis court demanding a new constitution be issued. During the assembly, vote was based on headcount. On June 20th they took the Tennis Court oath, vowing to keep meeting until a new constitution was written.

Protesters gather around the fortress of Bastille wanting weapons and prisoners from the fortress. The situation quickly escalates to a riot. The rioters storm the fortress and decapitate the governor in charge of the fortress, and then parade his head around town.

Women marched from Paris to the palace of Versailles to get reasonably priced bread, in order to feed their children. They could be heard chanting "bread, bread, bread" throughout the march. Meanwhile, King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were having a feast.

As a protest to the monarchy, the people storm the home of King Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette. Both were captured in the efforts. This was considered the official overthrow of the monarchy.
