On june 17 of 1789, the Third Estate voted to establish the National Assembly. 3 days later, they became locked out of their meeting room and found a door that lead to a tennis court. That's where they made their new constitution and called it the tennis court oath.

Louis tried to make peace with the third estate by ordering the nobles and the clergy to join them in the National Assembly. People gathered weapons in order to defend Paris against the king's foreign troops. On july 14 of 1789, a mob tried to get gunpowder from the Paris prison called Bastille. Bastille eventually fell into control of the citizens.
