    Storming the Bastille
    The storming the Bastille is what caused the revolution. There were rumors that Forgein attackers were coming to Paris, so the people prepared for it with weapons to be able to defend the city. The attackers went to Bastille wich was a prision and they took control of it. This stared the French revolution because King Louis did not help the people because he was going to eliminate the 3rd estate.
  • The Tennis Court Oath

    The Tennis Court Oath
    The tennis court is a realisation that the third estate did. The third estate noticed that they would always be outvoted by the two other estates. Then they were locked out of the versailles (Meeting place) they went to a local tennis court and made an oath to never separate from France until a constitution was made (For French people)
  • Declaration of the Rights of a Man

    Declaration of the Rights of a Man
    The declaration of the rights of a man had 17 articles, they were made by the National Assembly and the main purpose of them was that all men and women were are born and remain free and equal in rights (This as well is article #1)
  • March on Versailles

    March on Versailles
    A crowd of women stared to march to Versailles because the baker did not gave them bread, that meant that they could not feed their families and it was expensive. They marched to the Palace of Versailles to talk to the king demanding to see the baker. The kind said he would give the bread to the people. Then he left to pairs for security reasons (The situation got complicated)
  • Call of the Estates

    Call of the Estates
    King Louis XVI calls the 3 estates together to have a meeting. He called in the First Estate which was the clergy, the Second Estate was the nobility and the Third Estate was the rest of France (Mostly poor people). The last time they met was in 1614 because they did not have fair representation they would always loose because is was 2 vs 1 (always) but king Louis wanted to give them more votes but and old law said each estate could only have one vote.
  • Civil Constitution of the Clergy

    Civil Constitution of the Clergy
    France (Government) we starting to get bankrupt or they already were so the government decided to control the church but before that they needed to make a law, so the national assembly approved the law called the Civil Constitution of the Clergy (The government could control the church) Then the government stared to sell the church's land because they needed the money really bad.

    A limited Monarchy
    In 1791 the national assemble (3rd estate) made a new constitution and king Louis approved it, In this constitution there was a limited monarchy and it took a lot of the kings power/authority. It also made the legislative assembly which made laws and accepted or declined wars.

    King Louis XVI was executed by a guillotine because Louis stared to get a lot of problems so he tried to escape and he got caught, this made the people loose hope on him, so they beheaded him.
  • Reign of Terror

    In the Reign of Terror was a period of time were the Jacobins, and the Girondins were the controlling people/groups. With the execution
    of King Louis XVI these two groups grew. This caused thousands of sentences to death because of following a certain group (Jacobins or Girondins)
  • Execution of Robespierre

    Execution of Robespierre
    The leader of the Jacobins, Maximilien Robespierre was executed because he apparently wascorrupt. When he died he lost power and his followers left. This made the Girondins stronger and bigger.
