The French Revolution began on July 14, 1789 with the Storming of Bastille. The Storming of Bastille was in Paris, France at the prison Bastilles and revolutinists broke inmates out of it as a symbol of the fall of France's monarchy.

The Estates General was transfromed into the National Assembly and they met. During this the common people or the Third Estate gained a voice and France was divided into eighty-three departments. Also, elections were introduced and taxing was based off income.

Women of Paris marched in protest to Versailles, where the king lives, to protest shortage of bread. As a result, the royal family were forced to move to Tuileries.

King Louis XVI of France and his family unsuccessfully try to escape Paris in disguises. It would lead to the king's execution.

About 30,000 people marched to the National Assembly demading a republic, but the Assembly wanted a constitutional monarchy. As a result, some people got a petition and marhced once again, but a riot broke out so about 50 people were killed.

The monarchy was overthrown and became a republic. The National Assembly was also changed into the National Convention. A blood battle was fought in which 800 of the king's men were killed and 400 insurgents were too.

King Louis XVI was executed in the form of guillotine, a way of decapitation. It was the the final event of the French monarchy fall. It was to prevent prior massacres.

Marat, a French leader, was killed by Charlotte Corday. She was later tried and executed, but she believed this would put an end to extremism and the Revolution.

Revolutionists were guillotined by the thousands. Many of the killings were carried out under orders from Robespierre, who dominated the draconian Committee of Public Safety.

Napoleon Bonaparte became the First Consul of France, thus ending the revolution. France adopted a constitution and had a Consul as the highest position in the goverment.
