FRANCO'S CHILDHOOD
Francisco Franco was born in Spain in El Ferrol, a small coastal town on Spain’s northwestern tip. The 4th of December of 1892. -
FRANCO JOINS THE ARMY
Francisco wanted to be a sailor. Franco enrolled at the Infantry Academy in Toledo, graduating three years later with below-average grades. But a reduction in Spain's Naval Academy, caused him to join the army when he was 14. -
MIGUEL PRIMO DE RIVERA
Miguel was a dictator, aristocrat, and military officer who served as Prime Minister of Spain from 1923 to 1930 during Spain's Restoration era. He believed that the politicians who had ruined Spain, if they govern without them he could impose the nation. -
FRANCO AND CARMEN POLO
Franco married Carmen Polo, and they later have a daughter together named Carmen. At age 33 Franco became the youngest general in all of Europe. He was then chosen to direct the newly formed General Military Academy in Zaragoza. -
FRANCO RELATIONSHIP WITH FRANCE AND SPAIN
In 1925 France and Spain agreed to combine forces against Abd-el-Krim in Morocco. Franco was placed in command of the Spanish troops and Henri-Philippe Petain led the French Army. In 1926 Franco was appointed Europe's youngest general. Two years later he was appointed commander of Spain's new military academy at Saragossa. This involved him visiting military schools in Germany and France. -
THE WHITE TERROR
In Spain, the White terror was the series of acts of politically-motivated violence, rape, and other crimes committed by the Nationalist movement during the Spanish Civil War. This was a way of terrifying people, the civil population, who opposed the coup,eliminate the supporters of the Second Spanish Republic and the militants of the leftist parties,and because of this, some historians have considered the White Terror a genocide. -
THE RED TERROR
This was the same of the White Terror and the result was to shoot up civil population. The Red Terror is various acts of violence from 1936 until the Spanish Civil War. The days of this terror were at the beginning of the war, the aftermath of the general's rising, and large areas of the country fell under control of local loyalists and militias. -
SPANISH CIVIL WAR
In Spain, Republicans, people who were loyal to the democratic, and Nationalists, a group led by Francisco Franco. This war end in which the Nationalists won and it led to Francisco Franco to rule for 36 years until his death in 1975.General Francisco Franco leads the Nationalists to victory in the Civil War. -
HEAD OF SPAIN
In Burgos, Spain, Franco was publicly claimed to be the Head of State and the Generalísimo of the military. -
FRANCO MEETS HITLER
At the Hendaye meeting, interview or conference, Francisco Franco met with Adolf Hitler in the presence of their respective Foreign Ministers, o discuss Spain's entry into WW2 on the German and Italian side, but Franco decides that Spain should remain neutral. -
WORLD WAR 2
On this day, Franco declared that Spain was not ready to enter the war. They wanted to enter but in a early future. -
ORGANIC LAW OF 1942
Organic laws are those related to the development of fundamental rights and public liberties, those that approve Statutes of Autonomy and the general electoral regime, and others foreseen in the Constitution. -
WORLD WAR 2 ENDS
World War 2 comes to an end when Germany loses its power. Finally the war is ended. -
FRANCO DECLARES SPAIN A MONARCHY
Franco declared Spain to be a monarchy, to apease the monarchists, but left the throne empty. Franco himself declared that he was the regent of Spain and regularly wore the uniform of a caption general. He ruled Spain with absolute power, banning political opposition and enforcing a strict censorship. The people were closely watched by military police, forced to speak no language other than Spanish. -
FRANCO'S DEATH
Franco died the 20th of November of 1975 in Madrid.
