Rome was inavded by barbarians alike the Constantinople but Constantinople suffered from political quarrels unlike Rome which suffered from starvation.

It was decided to treat Christians more respectfully. Christianity was also becoming a main Religion and were gainig many followers. On the other hand Jews and other non-Christian Religions were be treated poorly. Later the lots of the Jews moved to a nicer place to live.

The Byzantine Empire did not get destroyed for the next 1000 years, they had great advantages in their military, they also have economical advanteges. They were able to make the easter part even stronger. They also had the Justinian Code.

Constantine rebuilt Byzantium and renamed it New Rome. It was under their control until 1453 when the Turks took control of it. "New Rome" is now called Istanbul. Also the Greek colony was originally founded in 667 B.C.E

The Roman Empire was slpit between the western and estern because Theodosius said thats what he wants when he dies, so the Western crumbled and the eastern stayed for longer.

In 410 Barbarians attacked The Western part of Rome. In the late 400's most of the Roman Emperors were defeated. In the In 476 A Barbarian general took out the last of the emporers ending The Roman Empire. The Roman Empire never recovered.

A barbarian general beat the rest of the Roman Emperors. In the late 400's most emperors were gone. After the Barbarian general took out the rest of the Emporer, Rome was ended. The Eastern part of The Roman Empire survived though, onnly the west was defeated.

The barbarians did not like how they were treated and "double crossed" The Empire. The Visigoths stop food from entering Rome and The Romans starved. The sewage system stopped working, people could not get rid of their garbage. All the people migrating into Rome. It was hard to defend all the boarders.

In 532 there were Riots in Constantinople. The rioters were the Nike people.That ended th city of Constantinople. Taxes were high and city officials were easily bribed.

In 565 Justinian, the creator of the Justinian law died. Justininans armys got back some land from Spain, Italy, and North Africa. Some lands were lost to people outside Rome after his death.Fighting for the lands destracted the Byzantine Empire and a powerful enemy, The Persians.

Byzantine Emperor (Heracius) beat the Persian army. The Persians gave up all their new land. Untill 1453 they were a good place for trading. But the war made both empires weak.The persains even had trouble fighing off invders.

Justinian gave ten men the job of otgranizing 1600 books of Roman Law. They came up with Justinian Code, It gave rights to, women, children, and slaves. It also gave harsher penalty for slaves. Most of the effort for the Justinian Code went to the church.

There was a ruler for the west and east, each ruler had his own capital and administration staff.Diocletian switched his empire from Rome to Nicomedia, Diocleation hoped the split f the empire would prevent wars.

When Theodosius died it said in his will to The Roman Empire into two, and that is just what they did. Now days people say Byzantine Emporer for the east, Roman Empire for the west. Aventually only the Estern half survived a attack. Therefore The Eastern part survived quite longer than the western.
