    The novel begins with Montag's perspective on his pleasure in book burning. He gives specific details on what firemen are ordered to do, which is burn books and any trace of them. In this beginning, readers are given the society's thoughts through Montag's thoughts before his character undergoes change. After he finishes burning down the woman's house, he then runs into Clarisse McClellan who is an open minded girl. Their encouter changes his perspectives on society and he underhoes a change.
