    Peace of Augsburg

    Ended religious struggle between Henry V, Holy Roman Emperor, and the Schmalkaldic League allowing for rulers to choose between Lutheranism or Roman Catholocism as the official confesion. Esentially it granted the princes of each region to determine whether their region would be Roman Catholic or Lutheran.

    War between the Protestants and the Roman Catholics. There were a total of eight civil wars between the Protestants and the Roman Catholics.

    Bartholomew's Day Massacre

    The massacre was a targeted assassination alongside a wave of violence between the Catholic mob and the Huguenots. This event helped revive the hatred between the Catholics and the Huguenots. Thousands of Huguenots were slaughtered by the Catholics
  • Edict of Nantes

    The Edict of Nantes was signed by Henry IV which granted the Clavanist Protestants rights. While France was still primarily Catholic, Henry IV tried to create unity within the nation. Ended the French Wars of Religion

    The war was a religious civil war fought between the Roman Catholics and the Protestants. Ferdinand II made citizens become Roman Catholic essentially going against the Peace of Augsburg.

    Treaty of Westphalia

    Ended the 30 Years War, drafted in 1646 officially signed in 1648. Two treaties signed bringing peace to the Holy Roman Empire.
