Over time, wars, intrigues at the court, and peasant uprisings had brought the virtual collapse throught the Han Dynasty. The final hit that brought the Han Dysnasty down, was when a general seized control but was unable to maintain his power and authority,

    The Han Dynasty Begins
    Once the Qin Dynasy ended in 210 B.C., the Han Dynasty began soon after in 202 B.C. This was one of the most greatest and long-lasting dynasties in Chinese history. It was very successful, as the empire expanded as far as Vietnam and with a rapidly increasing population. It also had lots of new technology, such as steel, and a great political structure, with the introduction of the civil service exam and choosing government officials based on merit. But, the empire started to crumble in 170A.D.

    The Fall of the Gupta Empire
    The Gupta Empire was very successfu.l, but sadly, it fell in the fifth century A.D. The Guptas were very prosperous until nomadic Huns from the northwest invaded and reduced the power of the empire. A military commander revived the empire for a short time, but after his death, the empire completely fell apart. North India would not be reunited for hundreds of years.

    The Fall of the Western Roman Empire
    The Western Roman Empire was very poor in this time period. There were many reasons for why it fell, but the main reason was foreign invasions. Because of the lack of male soldiers, the Romans couldn't fend off attacks by German tribes. The allowance of Visigoths in Rome didn't help either. Vandals followed them and German invaderes followed as well. Finally, the German general Odoacer defeated the Western emperor, Romulus Augustus, in 476 A.D. Therefore, the Western Roman Empire fell.

    The End of Pax Romana
    The Pax Romana took place in Rome from 27BC-180AD. It was the golden age, known as "peace of Rome". The last of the good emperors, Marcus Aurelius, reigned from 161AD-180AD. He died in 180AD. This is when the decline of the Roman Empire began. After his death his son, Commodus, took the throne. He was a poor leader, who would club random people in the streets. Commodus was killed by his own bodyguards. Once Commodus died, military leaders started taking control of Rome.
