    Building of Constantinople

    Roman emperor and his successors shifted their base to eastern Mediterranean. Constantine rebuilt Byzantine then renames it Constantinople. In 330AD he made Constantinople the new capital of the empire.

    This war only lasted about a week but in the time half of the city was destroyed and burned. Tens of thousands of people were killed.

    First he was sent to Persia in 533AD by Justinian and achieving many victories. Then he was sent to the Ostrogoths in Italy and won in 535 AD. Then took Naples and Rome in 536AD. Finally Ravenna in 539 AD.

    Justinian rebuilt the Hagia Sophia after the riots to make Constantinople "grander than ever". Hagia Sophia means holy wisdom and is still standing today.

    The crusaders were diverted from fighting Muslims to fighting other Christians. After helping merchants from defeat, their Byzantine trade rivals in 1204, crusaders captured Contantinople, the Byzantine Capital.

    Constantinople was a major capital in present day Istanbul. War took place in the harbor, ships shot cannons at the defensive wall protecting the city. The wall was destroyed Tuesday May 29th, 1453AD
