Byzantine was located on th shores of Bosporus which is a strait link to the Mediterranean and Black seas. This city had guards on three sides of water because it had and excellent harbor.

    Justinian was ruler from the time period of 527 to 565. Justinian was determinded to revive ancient Rome by recovering lands that had been overrun by invaders. During his time as Emperor he conquered North Africa, Italy, and Southern Iberian peninsula. But he did not have these lands for long as his defene in the East was weak and would lose bitterly contested lands. In 532 a great fire devestated the capital and Justinian built a church called Hagia Sophia which brought greatness back.
