    The citizens of Constantinople were mad because the taxes had risen. They started screaming "Nika....Nika" as a riot. So, Justinian wanted to flee the scene but Theodora tells him not to. They come up with a plan to stop the protest. Justinian invites the people who are screaming Nika into the Hippodrome. They think it is a cordial invitation to apologize. When they go to the hippodrome they get brutally murdered.
