  • Battle Of Atlantic

    Battle Of Atlantic
    The battle of the Atlantic lasted from 1939 to 1945. By 1945, there were about 45,300 registered Canadian seaman.Canada played a significant role in this battle because of their effort, during the struggle, which led to Allied victory.The Canadians also helped the British build a new naval base St. John's, Newfoundland, supplying most of the warships.

  • The Battle Of Britain

    The Battle Of Britain
    Canada played a significant role in the Batle of Britain, by sending Canadian pilots to Britain to train and help out with the war, so basically supplying man power to Britain. Canadian pilots were used when the Britains attacked Germany, used planes as an air attack. Over 10,000 Canadians died during air raids over Germany, while in an effort to destroy German industry and the morale of the German people.

  • The Battle Of Dunkirk

    The Battle Of Dunkirk
    The Battle of Dunkirk, which lasted from May 26th to June 4, 1940, was a war against the Allies and British versus Germany and it was one of the most deady battles. This was a battle led evacuating of the Canadian and British troops, but not all were lucky enough to escape along with the rest of the Allied and British troops.

  • The Battle of Hong Kong

    The Battle of Hong Kong
    The Battle Hong Kong that lasted from December 9th to December 26, 1941. Canadian soldiers went to Hong Kong to help defend the crown colony by sending two battalions, the Winnipeg Grenadiers and the Royal Rifles of Canada. After this battle, there were 290 Canadian casualties and 493 wounded. For there years, the Canadian POW's, prisioners of war, we put in the jails of Hong Kong and Japan, in the most foulist of conditions and were treated brutally.

  • The Battle Of Dieppe

    The Battle Of Dieppe
    The battle of Dieppe was the biggest battle in terms of Canadian casualties. This battle was caused because the Allies wanted to see how strong the German defences were.
    Significance = 1/8
    The Battle of Dieppe, i think had the greatest contribution to Canada's growing independance because it showed that Canada has the guts to sacrifice it men just to see how strong th enemy defences were. Even though Canada knew it wasn't gonna win, the took the risk.
  • Italian Campaign

    Italian Campaign
    The Italian Campaign lasted from July 10, 1943 till Feburary of 1945. Canada helped out with capturing Sicily, as well as help capture the Adriatic port of Ortona, following a house to house battle. During the end of this campaign, there were 26,000 out of 92,000 Canadian casualties.

  • D-Day

    D-Day
    D-day was the day when the Allies invaded Western Europe, along a 80 km front in Normandy,France. With nearly 150,000 Allied troops who landed in the invasion area, 14,000 were Canadian. Although the Allies encounterd hard German defences, such as machine guns, the invasion was successful. Other Candians helped as well, like the RCN by giving 110 ships along with 10,000 sailors and the RCAF as well by helping prepare the invasion by boming targets.

  • Liberation Of The Netherlands

    Liberation Of The Netherlands
    The Liberation of Netherlands was when the Canadians helped the Dutch by supplying food to people who were straving without any food to eat. It wasn' easy though, fighting in the winter and wet Dutch countryside. After almost a day of war, German defences finally collapsed from the lack of supply and man-power. After this battle, the onyl hard part left for the Canadians was to deliver the supplies and they did with parachutes and trucks that drove it there.
