Battle of the Atlantic
This is the longest battle in WW2, it starts from 1939 to 1945. German submarines worked furiously to cripple the convoys shipping crucial supplies to Europe, but after Canada join, Canada has primarily escorted for the hundreds of convoys that gathered in Halifax and Sydney, Nova Scotia, for the treacherous journey across the Atlantic. It helps the British a lot, but more than 70,000 people lost their lives.

Battle of Britain
Battle of the Atlantic was mainly fought in the air and is at the beginning of WW2. It fought for almost four months, it starts on 10 July and ends on 31 October 1940. German Navy can't match the British Navy so they turn to fight in the air. Before was the German wins more but when Canadian join, the British wins more and 25% of the pilots in the RAF that defeated the German Air Force were Canadians.

The Pacific War was the main battlefield of World War II, covering most areas of the Pacific, East Asia and Southeast Asia. The major Allied participants were the United States and its territories. Important battles took place in northern South Australia and the Aleutian Islands. On August 9, 1945, three days after detonating the uranium-fueled atomic bomb over Hiroshima, the United States dropped a plutonium-fueled atomic bomb over Nagasaki.

Hong Kong
This battle fought from 8 to 25 December 1941. Japan attacked the US at Pearl Harbor, inexperienced Canadian soldiers were protecting Hong Kong for the British. This battle didn't help to win the war a lot, in this fight 290 Canadian been killed and 264 Canadian died in Japanese POW camps.

Air War
At the beginning of 1942, the Royal Air Force bomber command began to strengthen the Allied strategic air attack on Germany. The targets of these attacks were factories, railway warehouses, shipyards, bridges, dams and towns themselves, with the aim of destroying Germany's military industry and depriving its civilian population of housing, thereby weakening their will to continue the war.

Dieppe Raid
The Dieppe Raid happens on Aug 19, 1942. The Allies wanted to scare the Nazis so they would move soldiers away from Russia. Because there is all rock on the beach is nowhere to hide, it makes 3,369 people died. From the start, the enemy pinned down the Canadians and shot them up until the raid was over, but some people said this provided valuable lessons for subsequent Allied amphibious assaults on Africa, Italy and Normandy.

The Italian Campaign
Ortona was a key city on the way to capturing Rome and Canada want to capture this city. They use “mouse-holing'' to reach the goal. they blasted a hole from the attic into a neighbouring house, the process was slow but successful, Canadians soon gained a reputation as elite street fighters. But this campaign makeover 26,000 Canadian died.

Liberation of the Netherlands (Europe)
The Canadian army was given an important and fatal task to liberate the Netherlands from Nazi occupation. From Sep.1944 to Apr.1945, Canada's first army fought the German army at the mouth of the Scheldt River, then cleared the German army in the north and west of the Netherlands, and provided food and other relief to millions of desperate people. More than 7600 Canadian soldiers, sailors and pilots died in the Netherlands.

D-Day: Juno Beach
This is Canada’s largest military operation of WW 2. On June 6, 1944, Canada, the USA, and Britain attacked Normandy, France to take France back from the Germans. It has 14,000 soldiers landed on the beach and 10,000 sailors on 100 ships off the coast. Canada was most successful at Juno Beach but had 335 dead and 739 wounded.
