  • North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD)

    Created to survey and control Canadian/US airspace. Should there be an incoming attack, NORAD will be the first to dispatch response forces (such as during 9/11.)
  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    Canada and the US were in direct threat of a missile attack from Cuba, as the Russian had missiles stored there. However, Diefenbaker was hesitant to get involved.
  • Canada-US Free Trade Agreement (FTA)

    Created to reduce limitations of trade between Canada and the US. Made to improve economic status in both parties.

    Extension of the FTA to all of North America (Mexico.)

    The first time that NORAD was used to combat a threat in North America. Canadian and US forces joined together and built trust and courage in each other.
