Prime Minister of Canada, Robert Borden declares war on Germany. -

Lieutenant Colon Allison Borden wrote a letter given to every student in Nova scotia convincing them to encourage their family to join the Canadian army overseas. -
Battle of Vimy Ridge rescue (+2)
Jeremiah Jones rescued his unit, creating Canada's greatest successe and sources of national pride during WW1. His heroic act changed many Canadian's opinions on African Americans. -
Coalition Party (-1)
Prime Minister Borden formed a coalition party of members in favor of conscription. He also extended the right to vote to women involved with the army. "I don't think that Canada should have conscription in 1917" (Sir Wilfrid Laurier) -
Personal Income Tax (-2)
The government introduced income tax fees. If a Canadian's personal income was over $2 000 a year they would qualify and had to pay. The government would then use this money to help the army overseas. -
Military Service Act (-1)
The military service act made military services compulsory for men between the ages of 20-45. this caused outrage for numerous French Canadians. -

Canadain soldiers came back and brought the Spanish Flu home with them. The outbreak killed another 50 000 Canadians and around 20 million worldwide. -
