    In Canada in 1938 the Jews asked Canada for help when they were being faced with a lot of anti semitism in germany. Canada responded with even more anti semitism. Many places refused to hire Jews and they were excluded from jobs as well as other things. like beaches. Canada’s leader at the time, Frederick Blair raised the amount of money immigrants needed to come to Canada which was anywhere from $5,000 to $15,000.

    Women in the workplace

    The role of women in Canada changed a lot. Canada needed women to support the war effort from their homes and to do jobs that used to be done by men. Canadian women embraced their new roles and helped add to the success of Canada's Victory Campaign. Women worked shoulder to shoulder with men in factories and they built parts for ships and aircrafts. This level of female participation was a first for Canada. Thousands of women proving they had what it took to do a "mans job."

    Benito Mussolini joined the war and declared war on France and Great Britain. Within minutes of this announcement, the RCMP orders to arrest Italian Canadians who were seen as a threat. 31,000 Italian Canadians were officially designated as enemy aliens and about 600 were separated from their families. Seen as fascist supporters. They were held in prisons and remote camps.

    Indigenous people from Canada served in the armed forces during the Second World War, fighting in every major battle of the conflict. To serve the country, Indigenous people had to overcome cultural challenges. Their courage and sacrifices are a continuing source of pride to their families and all Canadians. Charles Byce joined the Lake Superior Regiment. He won the Military Medal in the Netherlands and his gallant stand, without proper weapons and with a bare handful of men.
