  • The Ross Rifle

    The Ross Rifle
    The ross rifle is one of the first weapons made for World War I. It was supposed to play a big part in this war but it all backfired once the mud and water got into it from the trenches. This led to the creation of new weapons.
  • The Canadian Pacific Railway

    The Canadian Pacific Railway
    This is the Canadian pacific railway it played a huge part in transportation in the 1900’s this railway was used to transport many goods. This is was a huge part of Canada’s history being the longest railway in Canada.
  • The Artillery

    This was also a very useful form of military weaponry. These weapons were used to shoot into the trenches killing soldiers of the enemies army. These were also used to blow up walls and barriers. This was some of the better technology of this time period.
  • The Tipi

    The Tipi
    This is a tipi from the early 1900’s one of the first design for shelter for the Indigenous tribes. These were mainly used to sleep in during the cold nights but were also used to store supplies like food and weapons.
  • The Telephone

    This is a woman who worked for the Bell telephone company which is still around today. She was a telephone operator in the early 1900’s. Phones were very rare to come across in this time and age. With this being one of the first telephones in Canadian history.
  • Snow Shoes

    These are snow shoes that were used by the indigenous people of Canada in the early 1900’s. These were used to travel during the snowy days of winter and were worn during hunting and traveling. The indigenous also traded these with the European settlers of Canada.
  • The Machine Gun

    This was a very valuable weapon in WWI it was very effective. Killing many people. This weapon was one of the first automatic weapons inspiring many more. Without this gun on the Canadian side we may not have won the war.
  • The Tank

    This is one of the first tanks used in World War I. It was used by the Canadian Army to help fight in the War against Germany and their allies. This was an inspiration to many future lethal weapons. It helped to defeat the German in the great war.
  • The Huron Longhouse

    The Huron Longhouse
    This is a photo of a reconstructed longhouse built by the Huron tribe of Canada. These homes were used as shelter for the Huron tribe. They were built from natural resources found in the Hurons environment. This was a huge achievement for the aboriginal tribe because without these shelters this tribe could have died to the wilderness.
  • The Snowmobile

    The Snowmobile
    This is one of the very first snowmobiles in all of Canada. These play a huge roll in Canada since we receive very large snow falls yearly. This was a great way of transportation in the early 1900’s especially in late fall and winter. As you can see this snowmobile is much larger than the ones we have today.
