    I distinctly remember being in my 3rd grade classroom and watching the Twin Towers fall in New York City. I went home that day and my parents explained to me that there are mean people in the world that want to hurt others and that these "terrorists" were the reason many people died that day. I understood the meaning of death and terrorism form that day forward.

    When I was 9-years-old, I was overweight and finally realized this. My eating habits were not great and I my weight was always on the high side of the scale.

    When I was 10 years old, I was able to work out my problems wth my friends. I did not always have to get a teacher or my parents involved when my friends and I would fight. It was nice to be able to work things out for myself.

    I was honor roll student throughout middle school and high school. I never received anything less than a 3.0 in every class.

    When I was in 7th grade, I began learning Spanish at school. I took Spanish classes all the way through high school as well. I can't say I know Spanish very well, but I received great grades in every class I took.

    When I was in 7th grade, I started to have intimate feelings for boys. I had a few "boyfriends" and got my first kiss on the playground during a church fish fry.

    My grandchildren told me that I was very wise and gace great advice. They also could not believe all I had accomplished in my life time.

    My husband and I went on a trip to Puerto Rico, and then decided to travel Europe.

  • Cancer

    At age 68, I was diagnosed with stage 1 kidney cancer. This was the same caner my grandmother had when she was in her 70s. The radiation, chemotherapy, and my drive to live led me to go into remission.

    My husband and I have a great marriage and we are very happy. We adore our family and spend alot of time with them. We reached the colden year, 50 years of marriage.

  • It's Back...for Good

    At age 77, my kidney cancer comes back, but this time I am in stage 3.
  • Forgetful

    At age 79, I begin to realize I have become very forgetful. When I went to my doctor, I was diagnosed with the beginning stages of dementia.

  • Not Much Time

    At age 82 the cancer has spread through almost my entire body, mainly in the kidney, liver, and colon. The radiation and chemo has taken all my strength and energy. The doctors tell me I have 6 months to live. They make me as comfortable as possible, but I am still willing to fight.
  • Time to Meet my Maker

    At age 84, after surviving a year and a half longer than predicted, I die from kidney, liver, and colon cancer. I lived a great life and knew it was time to let go and join those who left before me.
