    The Red River Settlement was created because of the series of ecological disasters which caused depletion of the amount of bison; the Red river Settlement helped with harvest for the people impacted by this. It was a way for people to become self-sufficient and help themselves.

    The Pemmican Proclamation - Politics and Law
    The Pemmican Proclamation was an important event during this time because it was made in order to stop the Metis from exporting pemmican and other things outside of the Red River District. The Pemmican Proclamation helped the settlers for the summer and would allow them to have food. This lead to conflict between the trading companies and soon led to the Battle of Seven Oaks.

    Manifest Destiny was a belief that Americans were destined to expand throughout the conflict. They believed that they were supposed to have North America which meant they tried to take as much as they could, because of the threat of Americans, Canada had to stay on a close lookout to keep what was theirs. It is in Economy and Technology because of the effect it had on Canada's land and how that impacted their economy.

Without the Great Migration Canada would have taken longer to populate, there wouldn't have been as many people there which would have slowed down Canada becoming a country.

    The Battle of Seven Oaks was between the Hudson's Bay Company and the North West Company, This event is relevant during this time period because the result of this battle caused the British government to become tired of the fighting between HBC and NWC, so they decided there had to be a settlement between them. This lead to the NWC becoming part of the HBC.

    Defining the border between Canada and the United States as the 49th Parallel was an important event because it was one of the first steps in Canada becoming separated from the United States. The United States was supposed to have a greater amount of land but they didn't want to go to war over it so they allowed Canada to have the 49th Parallel. It was important because Canada could have been a much smaller country.

    The Hudson's Bay Company and Northwest Company merge was a significant event because it helped stop the crisis involving numbers of animals decreasing mostly beavers and it also helped the fur trade continue as NWC and HBC as they were having financial issues because of the beaver issue. The merge greatly increased the trading business.

    The Rebellions of 1837 were of great significance to Canada as the government saw that their were issues among Canadians and decided to bring in Lord Durham to help assess these issues and fix them. It also caused them to see how unhappy people were although the revolt didn't work. The Rebellions of 1837 were caused by the unhappiness with political reform but ended up causing Upper and Lower Canada to join.

    The Durham Report was an important document during this time because it helped Upper and Lower Canada become one single colony; the Durham Report assisted Canada in becoming a more united nation. The report was a result of the rebellions and so the report also helped fix the problems Canada was having with their people and what they wanted. It was significant because without it there may have been more rebellions and many people in Canada unhappy with the way it was.

    The joining of Upper Canada and Lower Canada was a necessary event because it created a sense of unification in Canada, before they were all separated and now Canada was beginning to become a nation. The union also helped with financial issues in Upper Canada and because they wanted to stomp out the French vote in parliament. This started to make Canada separate from everyone else and not reliant on other countries.

It was an exciting event so many people went west for gold and not only did it create jobs for mining it also created jobs like construction, owning stores and selling items miners would need.

It is important because PEI was almost owned by the states and would have been taken over had John A. MacDonald not renegotiated.

These policies wanted to get rid of the First Nations peoples into the growing settler population, while also protecting them. It is important because the Canadian Government integrated the First Nations into what was thought as the normal in Canadian society and the government still protected the First Nations and their rights and land.

Like the Cariboo Gold Rush it also promoted more people to migrate to the Yukon region. The gold rush also affected the First Nations who were forced to get out of the way so miners could come mine. It was important because of how it impacted Canada's economy and when the gold rush ended how much it declined.
