Basic Skills Assessment
The first thing I have to do is take the Accuplacer test. I was confused for a while because I was under the impression that the TSI test was the same thing as the Accuplacer test. The TWU website has the dates available to take the test on campus. I plan on taking the test in November. -
TEP Application
Next semester I hope to apply to the Education Program. I wasn't able to take Schools In Society in the summer of 2017, which I wanted to do to be able to apply to the program. Luckily, I was able to take it this semester so I can apply right away and have everything ready. I will also plan to take all the TExES exams that I need as soon as possible. I have already taken a BTLPT practice exam, so I know what areas need improvement. -
Oral Communication Readiness
I need to take the class READ 4453 in order to have the skills necessary to be a teacher. I plan on taking this class in the fall of 2018. -
Graduation and Teaching.
All though I am about two or three classes behind from my degree plan I am still aiming to graduate by 2019. Taking a few classes during the breaks should out me back on track. I hope to start teaching right away somewhere in the DFW. -
Continuing Education
My plan as of right now is to keep studying. I can't wait to be an elementary school teacher, but I have also always been interested in middle school. The adolescent/ pre-teen years have always interested me and I can't wait to be able to see that through eyes of a teacher.
My experiences in college have also made me interested in higher education and student affairs. In the future I plan to continue my interest in higher education and attend the University of North Texas for their program.
