    Sir John Alexander Macdonald Macdonald served 19 years as Canadian Prime Minister; only William Lyon Mackenzie King served longer. He was also the father of Confederation.

    Sir George Prevost dies before consideration of Commodore Yeo's charges; but the Duke of Wellington says: "He must have returned, after the fleet was beaten, I am inclined to think he was right. I have told ministers, repeatedly, that naval superiority, on the Lakes, is a sine qua non of success in war on the frontiers of Canada, even if our object should be wholly defensive."

    After years of harassment, sabotage and other minors between members of the Hudson's Bay and North West Companies, a crazy full out battle (today known at Battle of Seven Oaks) breaks out between parties led by Cuthbert Grant Robert Semple.

    Princess Victoria, became Queen at the age of 18. Her coronation was held at Westminster Abbey a year later on 28 June 1838. The coronation was very important and many visitors attended the event.

    The act abolishes the legislatures of Lower Canada and Upper Canada and established a new political entity, the Province of Canada to replace them. This was a very signifigant event.

    The British parliment decided to merge the two colonies together by abolishing the Parliaments of Upper and Lower Canada and replacing them with a single one with two houses.
