John A. Macdonald 1st Prime Minister of Canada Born in Glasgow, Scotland.
Sir John Alexander Macdonald Macdonald served 19 years as Canadian Prime Minister; only William Lyon Mackenzie King served longer. He was also the father of Confederation. -
January 5 - Sir George Prevost dies
Sir George Prevost dies before consideration of Commodore Yeo's charges; but the Duke of Wellington says: "He must have returned, after the fleet was beaten, I am inclined to think he was right. I have told ministers, repeatedly, that naval superiority, on the Lakes, is a sine qua non of success in war on the frontiers of Canada, even if our object should be wholly defensive." -
Battle of Seven Oaks.
After years of harassment, sabotage and other minors between members of the Hudson's Bay and North West Companies, a crazy full out battle (today known at Battle of Seven Oaks) breaks out between parties led by Cuthbert Grant Robert Semple. -
August 28 - The Governor (Charles Lennox, 4th Duke of Richmond) dies of rabies.
Charles Lennox, 4th Duke of Richmond, 4th Duke of Lennox, 4th Duke of Aubigny was a Scottish soldier and politician and Governor General of British North America so he was very important at the time and it was very sad when he met his death (August 28). -
January 2 - The Parliament House, at Toronto, is burned
During war of 1812 US solgers were orderd to burn down multiple buildings at their five day occupation. -
June 28 — Queen Victoria is crowned
Princess Victoria, became Queen at the age of 18. Her coronation was held at Westminster Abbey a year later on 28 June 1838. The coronation was very important and many visitors attended the event. -
Queen Victoria and Prince Albert got shot at.
Very unexpected and suprizing but no deaths. -
Act of union
The act abolishes the legislatures of Lower Canada and Upper Canada and established a new political entity, the Province of Canada to replace them. This was a very signifigant event. -
February 10 - The Union of Upper and Lower Canada establishes the Province of Canada.
The British parliment decided to merge the two colonies together by abolishing the Parliaments of Upper and Lower Canada and replacing them with a single one with two houses. -

This is very important because in the present the capital of Ontairio is Ottawa and the priminister lives in Ottawa. -

This was a very signifigant event to of many Canadians. -

This was a very happy event and celebrated by many. -

This signifigant event terrified many Canadians about the near future. -
