Canada Before Europeans
'Canada' has been home to Indigenous people since the 1400s and probably even beyond that. Indigenous people ran 'Canada' very differently compared to the Europeans, they had a complex social, political, economic and, cultural system before everything went stupid from the Europeans coming over and being messed up in the head. The Europeans colonized 'Canada' and ancient Indigenous traditions were altered forever. -

Christopher Columbus 'Discovering' North America
Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer from the Republic of Genoa. He was one of the main things that helped Europeans colonize all sorts of different places. Like, North America. He believed and told everyone else that he had discovered a new world, that he, himself had discovered North America. Even though, in fact he did not. North America had been discovered 7 times before he even arrived there. The first to actually ever discover North America were the Vikings. -

But the Iroquois Confederation took control of the fur trades and they eliminated rival Native American Indian Tribes. -
Treaty of Utrecht
The Treaty of Utrecht was when France had agreed to give the British large amounts of North America land, including Newfoundland and Acadia. When more Europeans were settling down it was causing the First Nations troubles. Most First Nations either had to relocate or be killed, the French settlements, still exploiting the First Nations just not as bad, began welcoming the First Nations tribes into New France with open arms. -
Period: to
Treaty of Utrecht Timespan
Before the Treaty of Utrecht the Europeans and French disagreed on who owned the land. Even though they had come up with an agreement (The Treaty of Utrecht) what part of North America was theirs, they didn't actually KNOW what parts were theirs. So after the agreement both sides had sent out their own explorers to figure it out. By 1713 only a small amount had been explored. -
Seven Years War
What happened and what caused it to happen was that Britain and France were fighting for the control of trade and commerce around the world. Both countries wanted control of North America's resources, but in the end it was France that had lost. The war ended with the signing of the Treaty of Paris by France, Great Britain and, Spain. By the treaty France lost all claims to Canada but this came back to bite the British in the bum, when the French were salty about it in the American Revolution -

The War of 1812 Timespan
The war of 1812 lasted 3 years after it had first been declared yet when it did end it was inconclusive. Neither side had really won. The only reason why it had ended was by the Treaty of Ghent. The treaty was signed in modern-day Belgium December 24 1814 and only actually did something in 1815 February 17 after both sides had in other words agreed to it. -
The Treaty of Ghent
The Treaty of Ghent was an agreement between Great Britain and the United States. It was signed because of the War of 1812, caused by disagreements. Though after the treaty was signed everything had went to normal, but for 'Canada' it was far more different. The war itself had helped a growing sense of national identity to 'Canada'. If the treaty hadn't been signed it would've ended up with decades of continuing war. -
Coalition of Governments in Canada
The Coalition of Governments in 'Canada' was what combined The West and East of 'Canada' into a single colony. The West of Canada were the ones who spoke english while the East were the ones who spoke french.(The reason why Canada was split into two in the first place was because of the American Revolution war.) But why did they do it? The Coalition was created to stop the political deadlock between Upper and Lower Canada, aka the West and East.
